Poll question: Women: carry a purse? |

Not I. Maybe I should, my pockets wouldn't be such a mess. :P

2. Some men carry purses, a practice I find perfectly rational. |
|
But this poll is for the ladies. :-)

26. Nothing wrong with that! |
|
In the old days, they tell me, gunslingers carried purses with bullets and tobacco. How macho is that, I ask you? These men were not ashamed of their purses.
Not that you need be macho. Carry a pink vinyl purse, with eyeliner in it! It's all good.
I was just wondering about women, because it does often say something about a woman's personality. . . whether she is really femme or a more tomboyish creature like me.

The poll was sexist and in hindsight I should have not just addressed women!

I always have a bottle of water, at least two books, my wallet, my phone, three or four pens, my datebook, a variety of medications and band-aids, and a small make-up kit.
People make fun of me, until they need a Band-Aid! Then, ha! They laugh no more.

4. I am 36 and I tried to carry a purse when I was in my 20's |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 07:47 PM by lovedems
but it lasted for about 2 weeks. I would leave it everywhere I went and all I did was carry stuff around I really didn't need. I carried a diaper bag for awhile but that doesn't count.
I usually just have some cash and my license in one of my pockets and that's all I need!

but your purse would, and believe me, those things can get a lot more messy. I wouldn't carry a purse if jean-makers would stop making women's jeans with nothing but those damned lipstick pockets!

I carry a diaper bag, now. I still carry a small clutch when we go out, but that never happens anymore. At least my bag doens't have bunnies all over it, like the one they sent me home from the hospital with when I had my first born, so I don't have to feel silly when I go anywhere without the kids.

Funny, and absentminded. If I have to carry it, I'll leave it somewhere. I won't have it when I really need it. If it's important, it needs to be in the pockets, or somehow attached.

Gotta carry my money, keys, bus pass and other cards, combs, make-up, Kleenex, bus schedules, pens and pencils (lots of each), and a paperback book for those inevitable times of standing in line or waiting for my food at a lunch counter.

i used to be a big purse freak, but as i get older, i just want something to hold a few things, id, keys, money, cellphone. my priority is having my hands/arms free. there is something very freeing about carrying nothing/only what your pockets can hold.

No no no no no no NO! I hate carrying purses. I went off and on for some years way back - carried for a while, then not, then carried, then not. Now, I couldn't tell you the last time I carried a purse.
All I need is a back pocket, and I'm straight! Now that I have a cellphone it's slightly more problematic, but I still manage. Now I'm wondering how I did the cigarette/lighter thing for so many years. Funny - stopped smoking one month ago and already can't remember how I packed around the smokes :D
At one point I carried a wallet, boy style. It was a VERY stylish wallet though - and I packed it in my back pocket. The stitching came loose though, so I'm walletless once again.
