Anyone ever see a trippy cartoon movie called "Fantastic Planet"? |
|
It's very cool, very bizarre & verry trippy.
These human-like creatures (the Oms) are kept as playthings by these big blue creatures . . .
Am I the only one here who has seen this?
I wish I new how to post pictures, as they are strange

1. Couldn't keep watching it |
|
I found it a bit too disturbing and too surreal, but I'm not a consumer of hallucinogens, so I suppose that has something to do with it.

I had first seen it back in the 80s or maybe it was early 90s.
It was shown on some late night TV thing on USA Network (I think), called Night Flight. They showed a bunch of other wierd stuff from time to time, but this was the only thing that I remember clearly seeing.
Not too long ago, maybe a month or two, I downloaded it and saw it again for the second time.
Its a really neat cartoon.

But damn it, another film I had forgotten about that I have to add to the DVD collection. :) Didn't it win Cannes in the 70's or something?

6. If you liked that, check out LaLoux's other big film, "Light Years" |
|
It's also very cool, about a biotech society overrun by metal invaders from the future.

I have two versions of it. The French with English subtitles and English dubbed. It's a wonderful story.

another animated one I saw, I think around that time was "Black Rain", a Japanese film about Hiroshima. Not trippy, but very very powerful. Brrr.
