4. My dad's sick(er) and I'm creatively blocked |
|
He had a stroke several years ago and has been in and out of hospitals and nursing homes. Yesterday he was diagnosed with pneumonia (again). Also one of his best friends (my namesake) died in a freak accident and he appears to be taking it hard - OR - my mother thinks she may have screwed up the explanation and he may think I'm dead. Hopefully she can get it all sorted out in the morning. I told her to phone me, then put him on the phone so he can hear my voice - assuming he recognizes it.
Other issue - I'm trying to write some music and I can hear it on my head but it's not going to paper properly and I'm afraid of losing it before I can get it written down.

Drink. Throw things. Too much coffee.
I used to be able to meditate but that hasn't worked in ages.

I know the feeling. My father had to have an emergency angioplasty a few weeks ago...
I might suggest that you put the music down for tonight. I write for fun, and while it's very relaxing and gratifying when the words flow out, it's very agrivating when they don't come, and the last thing you need right now is aggrivation... Best-AMJ

but then again, I'm not thinking all that clearly.
I know about the short-bus thing but the pie reference has gone over my head.

MAKE THE PIE HIGHER by George W. Bush
I think we all agree, the past is over. This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty and potential mental losses.
Rarely is the question asked Is our children learning? Will the highways of the Internet become more few? How many hands have I shaked?
They misunderestimate me. I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity. I know that the human being and the fish can coexist. Families is where our nation finds hope, where our wings take dream.
Put food on your family! Knock down the tollbooth! Vulcanize society! Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!
(It's a bushism he meant to say "make the pie bigger"

5. Yes. Me. Just got home from 5 wks of work. |

And all NE airports all the way to the Midwest had beau coups of delayed flights. Thank God when I arrived into Laguardia my flight home was also delayed by 2 hrs or it would have been one more night in NY. I am home now in the country, in intense quiet. How about you ... all OK?

I finally took something and am waiting for it to kick in. Must've had too much caffeine or maybe it's just nerves. Sorry to hear about your Dad, hope he hangs on as long as possible. My father is really old, 89, and though he seems fine, I always worry that I will get that call. I know what you mean, too, about hearing music in your head and not sure you can write it down fast enough. I have that problem, too. Though music is kind of an occasional hobby, I will sometimes hear stuff, and then totally forget it. It can be very frustrating. Although notating it is kind of lengthy, too, and takes several steps. Still, it is worth it, and fun and all. I am happier if I hear something when I am near a keyboard, and have a chance to get it written down. But anyway, I hope you can calm down a little.

15. I slept for a little while then gave up |

The Mexican garlic shrimp I had for dinner has digested nicely but left me hungry, then I got hassled by my cat. Maybe if I drink a pint of water I can sleep another cycle or two.
