Johnny Ramone dying of cancer......
This really sucks....
What's up with that band?
It's like if you're in it you're dooooooooomed (like a Spinal Tap Drummer).
Joey and johnny of cancer and Dee Dee of his own stupidity.

5. I was just hoping that he "didn't want to be a pin head....
no more" and that he'd "just met a nurse he could go for"

3. That's something I wouldn't wish upon anyone-
Despite his politics (total RW), he is a Ramone, after all, so I have to give him respect. It's a shame.

...or like a Grateful Dead keyboardist. Except that in this case it's THE WHOLE FREAKIN' BAND. Three members of the same band dying in a short period of time of unrelated causes (Dee Dee died of a drug OD, but Johnny was supposedly very good about looking after his health and got cancer anyway). Damn. I wouldn't wish it on any band, let alone a mighty giant like the Ramones.

I'm very well aware of Johnny's RW views, but as far as I'm concerned, he's a Ramone first and a Repug second. And shit like this doesn't discriminate based on political viewpoint -- my understanding is that Joey was pretty much a lefty.

:-( :scared: :argh: :-(

6. sad news...
rockets to russia was the album that transformed my idea of what music could be...never mind the bullocks a close second...they were giants. I remember disco and the corruption of pop music...it was these people that kicked rock and roll in the ass and got it all started again. i will be forever grateful for that.

8. wait he's still alive! ( great pic though)
I thought that prostate cancer was pretty curable if detected early.

I can't believe there are so few of them left. That is sad. Glad I got to see them when I did. Too many punks falling by the wayside. :(

10. I'm really sorry to hear this
The deaths of Joey and Dee Dee hit my husband and me hard. They were one of our all-time favorite bands. I don't agree with Johnny's politics of course, but I will be thinking of him and his family during this terrible time.

15. Johnny Ramone IS a cancer
he's the Republican wingnut of the group. Seriously. He's always been an asshole; Joey was the real human being of the bunch.

16. Johnny's a RightWinger-- and Proud of It!
For his news now, he hits the Drudge Report and Newsmax.com, Fox News' "Hannity and Colmes," and "The O'Reilly Factor." He listens daily to Rush Limbaugh and Michael Medved. In L.A., people spend a lot of time in their cars, and he uses that time to educate himself, he says.
His list of favorite Republicans should humble the Republican National Committee, or at least get him invited to a GOP fund-raiser: Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Charlton Heston, Vincent Gallo, Ted Nugent, Messrs. Limbaugh and Hannity, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Wayne and Tom DeLay.
He relishes agitating his left-wing peers — and has since the band started in 1974.
"Oh yeah, they really get upset," Johnny says. "I remember in 1979 doing an interview for Creem magazine with Lester Bangs and telling him that Ronald Reagan will be the next president. He was really mad that I liked Reagan, who was the greatest president of my lifetime. So I turned it around on him and asked to see his commie card. In fact, ever after that, I would ask him for his card. I think he had one, really."
