Boy Who Lost Foul Ball to Man Gets Gifts (Man is Youth Minister!)

Snip below--read the whole article--identifies the jerk as a "youth minister!" It doesn't get any better than this!

____________________________

ARLINGTON, Texas - A 4-year-old boy who lost a foul ball to a not-so-grown-up adult is getting a windfall worthy of a game-winning home run hitter.

A man sitting behind Nick O'Brien at a Texas Rangers (news) baseball game Sunday knocked the boy against the seats as he dived to get a foul ball. Fans started chanting "Give him the ball!" but the man wouldn't give it up.

"I couldn't believe someone would do something like that to a 4-year-old boy," said Nick's mother, Edie O'Brien.

O'Brien said she swatted the man with a cardboard fan and called him a jerk, among other names. "I said, 'You trampled a 4-year-old boy to get this ball,' and he said, 'Oh, well,'" she told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, adding that the man seemed proud he got the ball.

Video shows Nick was standing up as the man dived across the boy's seat to grab the ball at Nick's feet. The man's leg strikes the boy, and the boy is jostled a second time as the man stands up with the ball and appears to exchange words with the mother.

5. i like how they always portray these assholes to be such great guys..
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 11:34 AM by frylock
not to lump this fuckwad in with the likes of Charles Graner, but you always hear the same thing from the people who (supposedly) know them best. "No man.. that ain't how (insert dumbass' name here) is, s/he's such a wonderful person."

Starr is "not the bad guy he's been made out to be," said Rick DuBose, senior pastor of the Sachse Assembly of God Church. "He probably got a little aggressive and did something he regrets. But that's not Matt. He's a good kid, a good young man."

Guess what, Pastor? That was the true character of your boy, Matt Starr, on display for all to see. The way a person reacts in a situation like this is how you determine their true character.

16. They are offshoots
from the Pentacostal church. They used to be snake handlers. I know a few of them......very strict with their children......worship money above God....speak in tongues (on command)...lol

My youngest sister married an ahole who's parents are big time AOG.......they didn't want my nephew believing in Santa Clause so when he was five (one afternoon when my sister went to the store) they all got one of his presents from Santa out from it's hiding place(a rather large fire engine), blindfolded him and set him in the floor with the toy in front of him.....they took his picture like that and said they were going to show it to him when he was a little older. My sister almnost killed them....

15. I'm confused.
"On "Good Morning America," host Charles Gibson gave the O'Briens more souvenirs Wednesday — this time from the New York Mets (news). The family got tickets to Wednesday night's game against the Cleveland Indians (news)."

Are we to assume air fare was also included? Otherwise, tickets to a New York / Cleveland game aren't going to be of much use to a kid living in Texas...

takes balls from 4-year-olds while trampling them and shows no remorse. What does this say about the character of the freeper community?

:)

This story shows the kindness of others. I was in a related thread, and there were some DUers who just couldn't fathom why this kid deserved to be rewarded with all these gifts. I look at it this way: it takes one random act of douchebagness to make others react in kindness and generosity. That's the way life should be.
