Update on my dad and various issues
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 03:05 PM by TrogL
Spinoff from (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x1281006)

I talked to my sister (a retired nurse) and he appears to be far worse off than my mother is making it out to be. She thinks the end is near - thankfully.

I've been mulling over my composition and it's got my usual problems - it just isn't all that listenable. I get all tangled up in the structure of the piece and while it's interesting to analyze - it sounds like crap. Plus it's wide open to accusations of a ripoff - I can't say of whom or what because it would be a dead giveaway.

I think the panic attacks are a culmination of a lot of issues.

  • My father's illness
  • Ahknaten's back problems, which are getting progressively worse
  • Canadian elections - I'm heavily involved
  • my abortive music career - I'm just not good enough to turn pro but I'm waaay overqualified for the groups I'm currently working with
  • I'm involved in writing some code but I'm working above my skill level - fortunately it's not mission critical for my work, but I'm about to miss a deadline I was hoping to meet, and I've got another one coming up
  • I'm completely off all meds (except caffeine and alcohol) which may or may not be a good thing

1. When I was engaged to my first husband
I started losing weight and I would have times when I could not breath - couldn't catch my breath. I remember a couple of trips to the hospital and noone could seem to figure out what was wrong with me. A doctor put me on whatever was available at the time - I took about 10 of them the day of my wedding. I took them on my honeymoon. I knew that I was not madly "in love", but hey - as my grandmother said - "it's time you got married, your sister already has 2 children". I was a very determined person.

I was stubborn and my body was getting messages from my sub that I couldn't process in the logical part of my brain. Dah!

This was in the 70's - there was no internet. I would be driving along and then I could not breath. I thought that I was dying. My thought that I was dying made it worse. I don't know how I found it, but there was a homeopathic remedy available called "Calms". I started taking that and gradually, I healed.

Your body right now is an open wound. Remember that it will take time for you to heal. Part of it is believing that you can overcome this.

Quit the caffeine and take it easy on the alcohol. Start taking excessive doses of vitamin C - preferably estered. Take a lot of B vitamins. If you have a choice between caffeine and alcohol, do the alcohol.

2. Another update
My Mom just phoned back.

Apparently he's doing better than yesterday, he's just not "with it". They can't get any coherent response out of him. The anti-biotics appear to be doing some good and she picked up a suction device to help clear his lungs.
