Anybody got an AlphaSmart? Like it? Hate it? Where'd you get it? |
|
It sounds perfect for what I want. I've already got a desktop, so I don't particularly need a laptop. For that matter, I've got a word processor, but it uses proprietary Brother software that can't be used by any other computer (it formats floppies differently; wheeee!). So all I want is something little, dumb, portable, and with a word processor that communicates with Windows. Is this it? They seem to be pitched toward the elementary education market, but so long as the keys are big enough, this is ok by me. Whatchasay?

i have an alpha smart and i love it. i used it for writing my thesis and it has even traveled to some conferences with me. i will have to say it's one of the best purchases i have ever made..
i purchased it directly from alphasmart.com
the size is a regular sized keyboard and it's easy to link it to your computer. yes, it's geared toward elementary students (you can practically toss the thing across the room and it will still work), but i used it while completing my MA degree.

It's fantastic. Save your money on the Dana and just get the regular Alpha Smart. It runs forever on three AA batteries.
It's sturdy, easy to use, has a full-sized keyboard. Every writer I know loves her Alphie.

appear to be the case. alphasmart.com isn't hard to find, though.
