Recommendations on an inexpensive digital camera |
|
I still believe in using film for doing real photography work, but I'm getting tired of not being able to email quick snapshots to friends and family without going though the whole develop/scan routine. Since I've seen quite a few digital pics posted here by other DU'ers, I was kinda curious what all of you are using. Anything you'd recommend? Anything I should avoid?
Basically, I just want something to replace my old APS Canon ELF, with roughly the same features and without blowing $500 in the process.

4. He loves the Nikon D70 |

Better contrast accuracy, better noise at higher ISO, and better sharpness, despite some potential moire artifacting (which I will try out to confirm)...
He rates Canon highly too. But I'm going for the 10D instead of 300D. By now Canon will have made the 300D impossible to hack with the augmented 10D firmware and the 10D is $300 more than the Nikon.

6. Hmm, the Canon A75 sounds like a winner |
|
Actually, it sounds like a step UP from my Elph for about the same cost.

both make decent-quality entry-level cameras. I owned a Vivitar 1.0 MPixel back in the day (2 years ago) and it hella sucked.
My 2.0 MPixel Canon Powershot is good, but I will eventually upgrade to a fully manual model.
As far as ease of use, NO hardware failures, the Canon has been great.

Our company has had Fuji and Sony and both are good, but Hewlett Packard sucked and luckily it was stolen.
