It's called the Flex-Ctx or something like that, it's kind of like the boxflex except miles cheaper and you have to provide your own weights.

I've got a Weider free weight system with leg and butterfly attachments. I like the free weight concept for its versatility...and nobody elses sweat!!!!!!!..........
BTW...My den is just that...faux painted like the inside of a cave. I love it in here.....(Men are from Mars thing I guess)........

"Hamster Wheel"
But then, I feel the same way about ergometers and treadmills, too. I think I put a grand total of 40 miles on the fans last winter, and still haven't gotten the hang of the rollers yet (I can let go for maybe 30 seconds begfore i start weaving)
There are several benefits that I have noticed. the biggest one is that you're riding a bike that's already set up to fit you, so you don't have to be annoyed with stuff like pedals and seats that aren't right. the resistance from the fans is smooth and exponential, unlike what I've heard about the magnetic ones that supposedly have "bumps" in the resisitance, nor are they prone to leak like fliud units,. also, there is no heat build-up to worry about. On the DOWN side, the fans are noisy as hell, but you knew that already.
I found that the load level closely matched a level road with a slight tailwind. I can spin 88 RPM at 16 MPH for about an hour.
I use a heart-rate monitor to check that I'm actually getting a workout, and not just going through the motions. I use one on the road, too.
So how do you like the spinning bike? Is it almost as good as being on the road?

"So how do you like the spinning bike? Is it almost as good as being on the road?"
but you've really got to use your imagination to get into it. the spinerval videos are really good and really hard! you get anywhere from a 45-minute to a 3-HOUR! grinding workout.
i like riding trails much better. just not single track - don't like falling!
i used a vetta trainer in florida and i think it's a lot sturdier / no wobble factor than the wheels. you might want to check it out.
www.spinervals.com has some kind of pricey ones, but you might be able to google or e-bay something better.
ps: just wish it would stop raining long enough to be able to get out and do a real ride!

17. No traffic out here, either... |
|
But if I ride out of cellie range and stack it, they'll find my bleached bones someday....MAYBE! Nothing but miles and miles of corn and soybean fields here...
I have heard that "Spinervals" is pretty rough, not sure if I'm gutsy enough to try it.
You're gonna laugh (I hope) but I find that a mix of Giorgio Moroder Disco and Sousa marches make it less brain-numbing...
