My Dad is going to open an asparagus farm in Argentina.
He just told me.

He's succeeded with everything else he's ever done...but this is a doozey!

Funny thing is: I'm tempted to join him.

1. You will need this.
Sauce Hollandaise Recipe

1/2 cup butter
Yolks of 2 eggs
8/4 tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup boiling water
1/4 teaspoon salt
Few grains cayenne

Add yolks of eggs, lemon juice and seasonings to one-third of the butter; place in a sauce-pan over boiling water and stir constantly till butter is melted. As it thickens add the rest of the butter, a bit at a time, add the water and cook one minute.

3. Its really easy to grow in the right climate and
you pay out the ass for it in local supermarkets. I doubt the farmers get nearly as much as the middle-men but it still could prove very lucrative, especially if good, well lit fields were available cheaply.

He obviously understands business. I'd trust him.

7. If He's Serious
If he's serious, just remember that aside from having a very troubled economy right now, Argentina also imports most of its petroleum products. When designing the farm's buildings, consider using solar energy or wind power for electricity and heating water.

13. One of the reasons he wants to invest in Argentina
is that he was raised there.

He's done well in the US, and wants to see if he can help out back home a bit.

I think this asparagus thing is a bit off-the-wall. But what the hell, he's retired and can do whatever he wants.

8. Please ask him to go easy on the chemicals
We love asp, but it's pretty heavy on the pesticides.

12. He wants to grow 100% organic.
My family has grown specialized plants & trees for generations, but never all-out farming. He isn't an environmentalist, he thinks that being organic will bring a higher price.

17. Go for it!
And send me some. Asparagus is the food of the gods, and I don't care how bad my pee smells.

Dunno how many Argentinians eat asparagus, but we sure eat it here, and a LOT of it is imported.
