1. depends on the kind of broadband
DSL ranges from 640k to about 3Megs
Cable spans the same, but you have no set bandwidth. I can go lower or higher depending on access traffic in the neighborhood node.

Dialup is 56k (and even that is a misnomer as it operates at a peak of about 47k)

3. This will make it easy for you..
56k is like a small pickup, dependable but slow.. Broadband is like a porsche, highly erratic at times, but so much fun to own.

5. Way!
I can only get dialup in the specific spot I live. Without paying about $2,000 to run the cable that is. There was something I wanted to download that I estimated would take me about two weeks. A friend did it for me in a few hours.

9. If you're trying to convince someone else...
you don't need to quote numbers. There's nothing like letting that person surf on your computer for a few minutes to see the "tortoise and hare" contrast.

10. I have Roadrunner and wouldn't go back.
Just to give you an example......... it used to take 20 - 25 minutes for me to download the anti-virus definitions at the Norton website. Now it takes about 50 - 55 seconds. I'm spoiled now.

12. I work for RoadRunner so I am biased but proud.
I see a lot of bullshit in this and every other company but honestly for the most part I am proud of the product.

That is not something I have said about every job I have had.

11. You can have my cable modem when you pry it from my cold dead hands
Lets put it this way. I run 3-4 computers off my cable modem with no complaints. We DL movies in full screen mode as streaming video. I can have Air America Radio playing, be DLing a file, and have multiple internet sites open while surfing DU with no lag.
