6. Well, one thing that Supersize Me mentions is that
the McDonald's diet had Morgan Spurlock consuming the equivalent of a pound of sugar a day, given the huge soft drinks, the desserts, and all the refined starches.

2. Another documentary, "The R-Word"
Its original title was "Right-Wing Hollywood." It's a new documentary by Jesse Moss.

10. Not yet, but it's had terrific reviews.
That is one documentary that probably should be seen more widely, just to give people a context for the differing views of the news. Unfortunately, I think too many Americans have no idea how their own media system works, let alone how things are in other countries. They would be very surprised at the breadth of debate overseas.

7. I saw a couple hundred nude bicyclists
at the Fremont Solstice Parade. Some of the body painting was amazing. And some was ... minimal. ;-)

Nothing like a sunny day to bring out the flaming nudist hiding in many Seattleites. :D

14. House of Sand and Fog on DVD
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 11:00 AM by fiziwig
Very disappointing.

Yes is was dramatic, and yes it was tragic, and yes it was well acted...

BUT

Every tragic thing that happened was the result of someone making a really poor choice in the given situation. Every misfortune could have been prevented by even a small amount of ordinary common sense.

It's really hard to feel sorry for a character when they bring tragedy upon themselves with their own stupidity and lack of judgement. From the opening scene to the final curtain I could see the wrongness of every decision the characters made even before the consequences unfolded.

I've only ever seen one other movie where I watched horrible things happen to the characters and could only think "those stupid fools brought it on themselves. I'll be damned if I'll feel sorry for them."
