They come of the same assembly line. Just the badge is different. If you plan on keeping till it dies (like me), see you will give you a better deal. But consider the Toyota if you plan on reselling as it might have a higher resale value...

Toyota will offer side curtain airbags, Pontiac will not. But that's new for '05.
Otherwise, these are essentially the same vehicle...same warranty, same drivetrain, comparable pricing, etc.
Either one is a fine choice. It's the perfect urban car but I'd find it a bit cramped on the open road if I was travelling with more than one other person.

there is virtually *zero* difference other than Pontiac put it's own "shell", if you will, on top of Toyota's Matrix.
excellent, excellent car. i would recommend one in a heartbeat...
