I'm getting Dish Network installed on Sunday
a while back I asked you all for advice on which to get...cable or satellite. A friend had a gift card so I get installation and the first month free so I'm getting the dish.

I'm getting the 120 channels package.

Any thoughts?

1. GET THE DVR!!
It's an extra $5 a month, but well worth it--it'll hold 100 hours of programming, and beats the hell out of a VHS. My husband doesn't know how we've lived without it up to now!

3. You think I should?
I decided against it when they asked me today. I don't know if I'd use it enough. The only thing I ever taped was West Wing.

6. I'm betting you'll use it more than you think you will
That's what happened with us--once we realized how easy it was to tag things to be recorded (not to mention being able to "pause" live programs), we use it all the time now. If we want to something like the Daily Show or the evening news, but want to go out for dinner--voila, very easy to record and erase when done. It really is great.

8. You WILL use it. Trust us.
I got it but didn't think I'd use it much either.

But how often are you watching a show and get interrupted by a phone call, doorbell, laundry, or whatever? It's wonderful to be able to just stop the show for 5 minutes and restart it. Plus, then you can skip through the commercials.

We use it constantly.

5. Welcome to the next aquisition of Rupert Murdock
I have directv, and just heard about this. Also believe dish is owned by same as directv.

If anyone knows otherwise, please correct.

Thanks.

7. Is Dish owned by SBC?
Not sure, but my local SBC store was offering free installation of Dish network, so I'm getting it installed in less than 2 weeks.
