You don't go to Wesleyan by any chance, do you? I graduated from there twelve years ago.
Whether you go to Wes or not, how do you like Middletown?

4. I live a few blocks from Wesleyan |

I like it ok I guess. I came from 4 years of college in Manhattan to MTown - so it was a shock. I'm from the New Haven area originally. Being a family member with the Mayor increases my intereset in the city.

Wesleyan itself was a staunchly liberal school, but Middletown itself was a working-class town with its fair share of Freepers (during the first Gulf War, I saw lots of pickup trucks with Ol' Glory on their antennas), and relations between locals and students tended to be somewhat testy. I hope you or any Wesleyan students seeing the movie don't run into too much trouble at the theater.
As for myself, I'll be seeing it in San Francisco, so I don't expect a ton of trouble. But I'm probably not going to be able to see it this weekend.

noses at the "locals" and it makes me sick. It is full of liberals and was then. You can keep your elitist liberal arts student view of the city my fiance grew up in away from me, thanks.

Sorry if I came across as condescending towards Middletown. Yeah, I definitely noticed how strained the town-gown relations there are.
Having been away from Wesleyan and in "the real world" for over a decade, I'm fully aware in retrospect of what a closed ivory-tower bubble that campus was.

10. I don't mean to be harsh but I've lived and worked around the area and it |

never ceased to amaze me how little the students knew about the town, or how little they cared.
Didn't mean to bite your head off but its really a very liberal town and I fear less harassment there than anywhere
peace

There are a lot of loyal Democrats in town, or at least used to be.
