What Should I Do About This Friggin' Crap Fest!? |
|
I Got Home Tonight Around 3:30 AM From Hanging Out With Some Friends (My Roommate Is Still There). I Come Home To A Police Officer In Front Of My Apartment Asking If I Live There, Because A Noise Complaint Had Been Issued Around 2:45 am. We Weren't Even THERE! This Is The 7-9 Time The Police Have Been To Our Apartment And My Roommate And I Have Always Thought It Was Odd The Times They Would Show Up. Now, We Have Proof That Somethings Up.
What Should We Do? We Know NO ONE At This Complex, So We Have No Enemies. :wtf:

1. Be very polite to the cops |
|
Tell them where you've been and how long ago. You might want to check and make sure no one has entered your apartment while you were gone. If you have no contraband in the place, you might even suggest that the cops go up with you and check to make sure there wasn't a b&e.

I Invited Him In Tonight (He Declined) But He Said Himself He Didn't Hear A Sound And Apparently Was Knocking For Some Time. The Cops, Unfortunately Won't Tell Us Who The Complaints Are Coming From But It's Getting Ridiculous!
edit : no one was here.

your city hall or police precinct can inform you of the procedure to file a request for information relative to complaints against you or your address. they will NOT volunteer this information. you must be polite but determined, try calling the local station house on their "business" line and asking for a record clerk.
usu takes 1-2 wks turnaround & costs about $.50 a copy.

It's Not Like We Have Anything To Hide If We Were Having A Party Anyway - It's Just A Major Inconvenience - I Always Get Paranoid Talking To Cops For God Knows Why....

4. Sounds like someone is about to get his sorry arse done... |

for wasting police time.
There's not much else you can do & don't try to find out who it is that has been calling the police. They'll get fed up too, & they are much more scary.

7. You can't win when the cops fixate on you. |

I would move at the earliest opportunity. Try to find an apartment where the source of the complaints can be limited like a duplex or triplex. The fewer neighbors you have the easier it will be to refute the claim that you were making noise.

8. Well, I Don't Think It's The Cops |

We Live In Portland - They have Better Shit To Do. They Seem Really Pissed That They Have To Bother Us To Begin With. Everytime They Show Up, They Say (I Hear Nothing - Have A Good Night - Take Our Names - And Leave). Some Butt Head In This Complex Has It Out For Us!

9. They should know where the call is coming from. |
|
If the cop sounds pissed then you could suggest to him that he find the number of the caller and go jerk him/her out of bed at 4:00 in the morning. Sounds to me like the caller is someone that gets pissed off when you go out at night like an ex of some sort. Anyone you know fit the MO.

I once was getting crank phone calls day and night for three years until my sister got a divorce and I found out it was her husband all along.
