Question about Mozilla Thunderbird |
|
I just installed the Mozilla Thunderbird email client and have a question about it if anyone uses it. I was wondering why embedded images don't show up on emails. I looked for the answer at Mozilla.org, but had no luck. Thanks...

1. If the emails are from AOL folks |
|
...embedded images won't show up in Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird. Images need to be sent as attachments.

3. Embedded images result in more spam |

Because embedded images are bad news. They're not really embedded, and so require the email app to establish a connection to the web site with the image.
This allows the sender to know the email was opened, and thus, if a spammer, to know that your email address is valid -- resulting in more spam.
Thunderbird can be configured to load these images -- but you do not want to do this.

Thank you. I was figuring it was about security, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the other replies up there.
