Medicare Lottery to Cover 50,000 People
By MARK SHERMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration will give "50,000 lucky individuals" chosen in a lottery up to a 16-month jump on Medicare prescription drug coverage, paying for costly medications for cancer and other illnesses this year.

5. W: so, Wanda, you ever play the lottery? Ever win????
word up, Wanda ... is this the ultimate plan or what? ... get this, we help 50,000 people, maybe, at a time ... that is, if your name gets drawn by a lottery ... we help until you ... ah ... we help you ... ah ... you know ... you kick the bucket ... if your name isn't drawn the first time, and if you live another year, you might get lucky that year ... is that compassionate or what? Anyway you dice it, my friends at Pfizer get their money ... it's like Tom-Tom Thompson said, "only a cynical pessimist can look at a doughnut and complain about the hole" ... it's win-win almost ... downside is that no one else can get deathly ill until after 2006 or something ... I mean, Wanda, you know, we have the draw the line somewhere ... maybe we should consider scratch tickets ... you know, match 3 diseases and you win up $2 to lift your boat ... that might be even better than my Map to Peace idea ... Wanda? Wanda? are you listening?
