With a bit of training, they should be able to keep those shelves full with no trouble.

3. Use the frames
The frames are the skeletons after the fish has been filleted. Also heads, fins, whatever. You can also make an excellent stock with shells from shellfish.

Cover the fishy stuff with water and bring to a gentle boil. Skim off any scum (usually isn't much). Add some celery and an onion, peeled and quartered. Simmer very gently for several hours, then strain and freeze. It makes a great base for chowdah, btw.

Never put tomatoes in your fish soup and call it chowdah. That's not chowdah!

5. they sell heads etc. at the farmer's market
Just don't take it out of the freezer to get at something else and inadvertently leave it on top of the fridge all night. I know of what I speak. The cat was *very* interested...
