Poll question: Prettiest (pop) song ever?
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 07:06 PM by undisclosedlocation
Yes (NightTrain), there will be more than two offerings. Eventually. Offer brilliant suggestions over the next 55 minutes and they will be added to the poll. Or don't and I'll throw in Minnie Riperton and Mariah Carey numbers just to annoy the cool kids!:)

Yes I do know other artists besides S&G; just wanted to get y'all started

Edit: Here's some more; see explanation below

6. Dammit! Sorry all; I'm getting kidnapped
So I'll add the nominees offered so far and whatever else I can think of off the top of my head, but suggest that somebody get this one locked and come up with a better slate of songs, 'cause these might get a little silly

10. The Rain, the Park and other things
By the Cowsills,

I saw her sitting in the rain,
raindrops falling on her.
She didn't seem to care.
She sat there and smiled at me.

And I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew)
she could make me happy (happy, happy).
Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere.

I love the flower girl, oh, I don't know just why.
She simply caught my eye.
I love the flower girl, she seemed so sweet and kind.
She crept into my mind.

Suddenly the sun broke through (see the sun).
I turned around she was gone (where did she go).
And all I had left was one little flower from her hair.

But I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew)
she had made me happy (happy, happy).
Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere

14. "How Long?" by Die Haut with Anita Lane and Blixa Bargeld
It's a beautiful, hypnotic duet...

How long have we known each other now?
Five, ten years, and I guess we've changed,
and we'd run into each other in the subterranean world...

With the extras in their fright wigs and fins
on their way from funkhole to dugout...

and one night would keel over into another,
and there never would seem to be a day,
and hey, you used to say you were polishing up on your survival tactics (techinques) for the end of the world...

and you, you used to dig your beak into my ear and say "nothing"
like a secret...

How long have we known each other now?
Fifteen, twenty years maybe, and certainly we've changed... and we'd run into each other in the subterranean world...

And before I knew you or before we met
oh yes, way before then I was itching in the cradle,
making my way to the slime pits & the sludge traps
looking for love...

and all the bushy brats turned out from the western burgs
minced in the powdermills, noctambulating around nowheresville
and some were so desperate for sleep the only retreat was the
sad dormitory...

yes, one would go for a rest (or a test?)

How long have we known each other now?
up to thirty years I guess, and maybe we've changed...
and didn't we see each other in the subterranean world?

You, did you really have your headress?
Hmmm.... yes I used to dress up like a girl,
and how did you ever make it back home? I... I...
I'd leave a trail of pearls.

Did you ever see a doctor - or a priest?

oh yeah - a priest

do you remember the guy with the sign "the end is nigh"?
That was me (do you remember what was written on the back?)

and do youremember the guy with a boxful of wind?
or maybe it was a cassette

I don't really... I don't know either - or was it me?

How long have we known each other now?
I've never seen you in my life (forty years?)

How long have we known each other now?
I've never seen you in my life (fifty years)

How long have we known each other now?
I've never seen you in my life (sixty, seventy, eighty three years)

I hope that we've changed...
and we've never seen each other in the subterranean life...
