Just went to some Off road Races... |
|
I was working with a Wisconsin Assembly District Candidate at the Annual Governor's Cup Off-road races in Crandon, WI. We were in somewhat friendly territory, the track being on Potowatomi land, and we were recieved well. The racing was wonderful. Great off road dirt track racing, especailly the las "good ol' boy race" (Basically they take old junkers and race them.) Came right down to the wire at the end. A fun time was had by all.

1. Whoa, you went! I am so envious. Did Evan Evans win the Gov's Cup? |

We go to the Labor Day races in Crandon every year but it always seems that we are busy for the June races there. I absolutely love off-road racing. You can keep that roundy-roundy NASCAR racing. That bores me to tears.
Evan Evans is my favorite in the Pro 2. I heard he had pole position for the Governor's Cup.
If a driver could ever be a hero, Evan's it - paralyzed from the waist down in a motorcycle accident about 8 years ago, his off-road racing father, Walker Evans, talked him into giving it a try. Chevy sponsored him in the beginning but dropped him a few years ago when they pulled all their support from the off-road racing circuit. He's been struggling the past few years to get adequate sponsorship. Now I heard the Potowatomi have taken him on. That should be a big help. I'm looking forward to hearing he is doing well this year.
on edit: I'm happy and somewhat surprised to hear you had a good reception at the races. I've tried to steer other pols to them but I think Dems fear redneck types and perhaps with good cause. In Northern Wisconsin, most of them are pukes.

He was kicking ass on the first lap, but got bumped off the track just before the finish line. He managed to get towed off, but he finished dead last, IIRC.
We felt pretty safe. If any freeper were to try and give us shit, they'd have a bunch of pissed off Potowatami Security peronsell to deal with.
