Watching the Yankees-Mets game on ESPN. |
|
Can't make out what the blue-and-red patch is that the Mets wear on their sleeves. Can anyone tell me what that's for?

1. its the aniversary of Shea Stadium |
|
the patch is orange and blue, and the inmages are the batter and pitcher neon lights that are on the outside of the stadium.....
by the way, can the ESPN announcers be MORE in love with the spankees? Its making me sick listening to them drone on and on about how brilliant a manager Torre is.....

2. Thats why I absolutely hate watching games on channels other than... |
|
Fox Sport Net NY, MSG, or Channel 11. As a die-hard Mets fan, you can pretty much count on those national announcers putting down the Mets whenever they can. I remember it being especially bad during the 2000 World Series. The announcers were treating the NL champs as if they were a little league team that won a raffle to have the privilege of playing the mighty Yankees. Thats why whenever the Mets are on nationally, I flip on the radio, but its not the same since Bob Murphy retired :-(

was said to hear about his ill health...
And I agree 100% about the announcers....I think the worst of the lot was Tim McCarver. I swear he's so in love with Jeter and the spankees that it would make me sick listening to his drivel....they couldn't do any wrong and they NEVER made a bad play, it was always a poor call by the umps or a lucky break for the Mets....

but I am an eternal optimist (hence the Mets fan part) and I know that the Yankee's dynasty will come to an end and they will be crappy again like they were in the mid 80's to early 90's. Thats what gets me about Yankee's fans especially the younger ones they either were too young or have simply forgotten what it was like to suffer for your team. They become too cocky and lose humility, and take winning for granted, I really hate that. But when they crumble and they will one day, I will be laughing when all the fair weather fans flee.
on edit: I feel as if old NY Giants and Brooklyn Dodger fans are kindred sprits, they knew the true thrill of victory and agony of defeat.

5. yeah....he got all pissed at them because they fired his ass... |
|
then he ran over to the bronx......
'86 still in my mind and dreams....
by the way, you should relate to this, doesn't it bother you how Seinfeld switched his allegiances - always pissed me off. at the beginning of the show's run, the Mets were the better team and all they talked about was the Mets. Then the Yankees started playing well again and it was all about working at Yankee stadium, etc. I my opinion, the show was better when there was a Mets hat on the wall...just my own pet peeve....

6. He's still a Mets fan in real life right? |
|
If he switched, then I've lost all respect for the man. I know what you are talking about though. The later episodes were a total Yankee love fest, complete with cameo appearances by Bernie Williams. I guess the boss is more of a character than Fred Wilpon. Still you can't beat the episode with Keith Hernandez in it.
I just keep reminding myself that both Tim Robbins and Jon Stewart are die-hard Mets fans, the Yankees can keep Giuliani
