1. I think it becomes a matter of the 'heart'

if you voted for a certain idealogy 'before' you understood it the way you do now - OR - for certain people, you vote that way b/c you can't think 'long term' and you can't think about 'what's in everyone's best interest (to the greatest extent possible).
