Raised In A Barn - Rude People Galore
welcome to Bitchfest 2004.

two women old enough to know better in front of me in the EXPRESS line last night with like 25 items. so I stood there with my bananas and celery and glared at them. so...that should take care of THAT.

and what is it with people in my personal SPACE? I had to turn around in line last week and say to the woman behind me, "excuse me. move back!" when I turned around, she was so close, my arms touched her arms. that should NEVER happen! unacceptable!

the students around here are just as bad. I'm like, "hey buddy! relax! no one's going to butt in front of you. you don't have to be up my ass!"

I am really grumpy this morning.

3. A lot of people these days seem so self-centered.
I was in a grocery store yesterday that is doing some remodeling. As a result, there are parts of the store that are smaller than before, and some areas that are inacessible. Normally, this is a crowded store on weekends so you can imagine the crush of humanity packed in a smaller, more confusing space. So, I am already allowing for some degree of discomfort. But, if I had a nickel for every person who was stopped in the middle of a walkway, or who suddenly came to a stop while I was behind them or was casually having a conversation in the middle of an aisle, I'd have been able to pay for my purchases.

:argh:

However, I must say that the nice woman at the register made up for it. I hope she got her paper written.

5. I know! or how about the kids pushing those huge red cars
up and down the aisles?

speaking of kids, two kids were tossing a ball yesterday and it HIT me. so I pointed my finger at him and said, "you guys need to watch that before you get HURT." God only knows where his worthless parents were. (it was a mall) so the kid says, "i'm sorry." then I felt bad and said, "it's okay. just be careful."

then I smacked him in the head. :)

9. This place has no "kiddie carts".
http://www.centralmarket.com/cm/index.jsp

But that doesn't mean there weren't kids pushing the carts and wandering aimlessly (as kids are wont to do - that is why they have parents).

34. I once posted a thread ranting about those carts
Generated over 100 replies and flames galore. I stand by my original opinion - those things are a pain in the ass, take up way too much space, the kids are bratty, the parents lazy, etc etc...

David can tell you what fun THAT thread was. :-)

Let's say that people get REALLY defensive and argumentative when the subject of children comes up.

I mean, I'm sure it isn't YOUR kids...it's those OTHER kids. ;-)

But, it got ugly. Every few months we seem to have a "children suck" flame fest here. We had the "child-free = selfish" debate a couple months back. That was pleasant.

44. Like I said before: parents get a little defensive at this subject...
I think there are too many people having children for the ego-boost which is even MORE selfish. I also think it's smart to know yourself and realize that you are not ready for or don't want kids...but some people can't get that message and are jealous. I guess.

13. She didn't report it to the fuzz
I don't think there's anything they can do, though. She did try to file a claim with her auto insurance, but since it was a stand-alone unit, they couldn't cover it...and her homeowner's insurance has a $500 deductible. XM, on the other hand, is cancelling our service and offered a new unit for $40 off the retail cost, which is a pretty good deal. Still sucks, though. Oh, and the rat bastards left her car door open!

10. Oh, you are so right!!
That makes me insane too.
A couple weeks ago, we were driving down a parking lot aisle that was angle park, one way. And it was the direction we were heading. This girl backs out to purposely come our way. I had to STOP and wait beacuse she wasn't paying attention. I actually screamed "HEY!" And she looked over. "YOU AREN'T THE ONLY PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE YOU RUDE ASS BITCH!" And we proceeded to drive to the space she had vacated and drive inside. It felt so good.

I hate when i'm standing in line and someone is so close to me that I can feel them breathing. Bad Breath makes me vomit, so, I usually turn around and say "MA'am, are you afraid you aren't going to be next? Is this why you're violating my personal space and almost touching me? People know you're standing here. They aren't going to cut. And I tell you what, if someone tries, I'll knock them down line backer style, k? BACK OFF!" And then I turn around. I have a really big mouth, I'm not shy, and I don't care. I'm the nicest person in the world until someone pisses me off like that.

The problem is the entitlement issues in society. People think everyone owes them something. ALSO, people seem to think the world ends at the tip of their nose and they are the only ones that count. Parents don't teach their children Common Courtesy anymore.

Speaking of rude, why do smokers not go to designated smoking areas? Why do they think that if the stand in the door of a building is the same as stepping away the 25 feet that the law has specified? I personally hate going to class here because every morning some rude ass idiots are sitting at the door smoking. They have a really nice shaded courtyard with the ash tray thing, but won't go use it. And when they litter their butts I want to tackle them and teach them some respect with my fist and head. I'm not a violent person, but I just hate it when people are disrespectful of others.

Sorry this so long. I just got so carried away talking about rude people. They are everywhere and make me completely insane.
Duckie

23. How about people who block the aisle with their carts...
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 09:00 AM by BiggJawn
...and proced to have a gab-fest like they haven't fucking seen each other in 20 years? What ever happened to heading over to the snack bar for a sit-down ansd a Coke?

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! "We're in a hurry" so they stand there in the aisle, absent-mindedly tugging on their carts until they have drifted into an effective roadblock.

And PLEASE! if you're discussing the details of your last visit to the Gynocologist on your cellie while behind me in line, don't be offended when I put MY 2 cent's worth in. Especially if you're not half-bad looking and I ask if you'd like a second opinion....

And KIDS! Look, dipshits, it's a STORE, not a fucking Play-scape! Keep your crumb-snatchers OFF the bikes and electric scooters and skateboards unless you're BUYING them! M-Kay?

28. This is one of my grocery store pet peeves.
I don't know why it is but there is usually someone (most often a middle-aged lady) who will park her cart on one side of the aisle (usually at an angle, to take up more room) and stand beside it and examine something on the other side of the aisle. I usually wait while she scrutinizes the can label or whatever while she is in her own little world. It must be nice to take a departure from reality once in a while. I often wonder, how do people like this drive out on a busy highway?

51. Or my version....
OK, so the eyeballs aren't what they used to be, so it's easier for me to stand on the far side of the aisle and scan the pakages across the aisle.

Invariably, somebody will pull in front of me and park, whie they get close to read the Carb percentages or some such....OK, so I'm wierd, but a simple "Excuse me" WOULD make it all better, and give me an opening to tell them that the brand of soup they're considering tastes like very dirty dishwater....

He can do it on command. That'll teach them. They'll lose their appetite. Might clear out the whole damn grocery store too. They'll have to call HazMat for a clean up or a priest for an exorcism.

My four year old can produce some powerful odor.

36. Could I borrow him?
As a middle aged woman, I would like to say to every dipshit in the grocery store:

They are mandarin oranges. They are all alike. The brand doesn't matter. Additionally, they are all green beans. Some are french cut. But the beans are the same. The canned corn is all alike. Some is creamed, some is shoe-peg, some is yellow. Choose your milk, because it is all fresh in this store. Decide before you arrive at this place whether you want whole, 2%, 1%, 1/2%, or skim.

Now is not the time to make a major life decision. This trip should not be a lovely outing for you; if it is, please just go the zoo or something, but that might be a bit of effort. Plus, you do not need to make several phone calls regarding what kind of greens to buy. This is not a decision to be made by committee. Not every soul in this store is having a terrific time, and you are eating up part of my limited life standing around in my way, even though your discussion about the virtues of spinach vs. bibb lettuce absolutely transfixes everyone around you (not that you might notice).

Get out of my way, please oh please, before my head explodes.

46. I guess the Midwest,
as boring as it is, really is a nice place to live.

When people are inadvertently blocking an aisle (and sometimes I'm the offender), another customer just quietly and politely moves the offending cart a little, or just says, "Excuse me" and the offender moves and apologizes.

Those great big red car carts actually contain the little munchkins much better than just sticking them in the front of the regular cart -- plus two little ones can sit in the car part, which is nice if you made the horrible mistake of breeding a second kid before the first one is old enough for high school.

And people here don't usually stand too close, or if they do their personal hygiene is quite good.

And while I've observed the occasional bratty kid, or one having a temper tantrum, I've never come across some playing catch or football in the aisles. What a dull life I lead!
