Poll question: Am I the only one who enjoys the occasional country song? |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 07:56 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
I'll admit it. Country Music is a secret like of mine. I mean, I only listen to it, watch videos when I'm alone. I know I'm not the only one with the courage to admit that she likes a little country now and then.

1. I have a tape, called "Classic Country Hits" |
|
that an old friend gave me, and I'm kind of sentimental about it. So yeah, I guess I do. :-)

8. you mean there is 'bad' Creedence? |
|
voted other.
there's some really good country music still around, even artists you wouldn't expect. Mark Knopfler's Golden Heart has a tune or 2. Nick Lowe's Dig My Mood.

Actually I do like Johnny Cash, a little Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. Bluegrass is cool too, not sure if that counts as country. I do tend more towards Rockabilly, like the Right Reverend Horton Heat. He puts on a damn good show.
Edit: Dammit just saw another thread. Must add Willie Nelson. Don't know how I could have forgotten. Acutaully I'm sure I've forgotten a lot more, just don't follow country music so much.

14. the Chicks are great, even without their politics.... |
|
Natalie Maines has a true country voice, unlike Barbie dolls Faith Hill, Shania Twain, etc.
Also Nancy Griffith, who is really in a class by herself.

15. Nothing wrong with listening to both kinds of music... |
|
...both country and western! Sure once in a while I'll listen to Hank Williams (SR!), the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Rose Maddox, Wanda Jackson, Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, George Jones, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Elton Britt, Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Ernest Tubbs...hell even Tex Ritter or the sons of the Pioneers are fun to hear once in a while!
I just don't get this new fangled stuff the kids nowadays are listening to, though...
For me, classic country cannot forget its roots...which come from Hawaii (steel guitar) and Switzerland (yodeling!)...

I couldn't vote that you're nuts, even though you are nuttier than a snickers bar. But even with my dislike for country, I do like the occassional Willie song.
