I can vouch for this, having moved here 20 years ago. Summers are unpredictable, usually from hour to hour. It can be hot, cold, windy, dry, wet(rarely)or foggy (usually. It's all about layers - t-shirt, knit shirt, sweater, jacket, etc. Put 'em on, take 'em off as necessary.

10. Sigh, now I'm homesick! |
|
I'm originally from Monterey, CA (transplanted to WA state almost 7 mos ago) and haven't been home since December 3, of last year.
Definitely take some sweaters. There is wacky weather there, I tell ye!!!
You gotta check out Castro too. I went there for Halloween last year and had a BLAST.

I will vouch for the Castro as well! Sapphs and my favorite restaraunt is there.
Been there several times, and each time I go there is always something new to see. Fun part of town.

I might not be an American, but my partner is. She lives in SF, so of course while I was there (before imigration kicked me out), SF became my home. Now I really miss it.
That is one great city, and so easy to fall in love with. :)

13. A few San Francisco tips |
|
People aren't kidding, it's chilly here this time of year. Also, the first thing you should do is grab a few of the free papers to find out what's going on. The Guardian and SF Weekly are the two big ones. Some websites that also might help you find stuff to do are...
