My car got booted today... |
|
It signed up on FR without my knowledge and posted some very inflammatory stuff about Tim LaHaye...
No, the DPT came and put that damn yellow thing on my wheels and I can't drive it until I go down and pay my parking tickets.
God dammit!! 5 measly tickets and this is how they treat a person?!

4. I hate when that happens. |
|
They got me for one ticket that I not only wasn't guilty of, I had no idea I even had an outstanding ticket.

It's one thing to ignore parking tickets you know you've gotten.
I'm also horrified that you'd get booted for just one ticket. Most places that do it have some kind of threshold, like five or ten outstanding ones.
I'm such a boring, law-abiding person that I've never gotten a parking ticket.

8. You've got 10 days here before you get booted. |
|
City Court convenes every Friday, and you can either a.) pay up, b.) contest it in City Court (suspends the clock, so to speak) or c.) not pay, and get the Denver boot.
We have few late payment on parking tickets here in the village, needless to say... :P

9. Does it minimize illegal parking? |
|
Are the fines low enough to just be considered part of the normal cost of parking?
As law-abiding as I am, I'm still appalled that one ticket can get a car booted.

14. $25 if paid within 10 days, $50 if not. |
|
Yeah, it does tend to cut down on 'repeat offenders'. :)

10. ten days from the date of a ticket? |
|
I got two on two successive days here in DC. Paid the first the same day (by mail) but had to wait for payday to pay the second. It was still under thirty days, which is how long DC gives a ticketee to pay up.
I understand the inconvenience of being booted, but sorry, Taylor, I don't understand not just paying the tickets in the first place -- or, if you can't afford them, parking legally. Call me old. Call me a joykill.
Life's too short to play fast & loose with stuff like that. It causes stress, and that stress is SO easy to avoid.

Seriously, I think that is why they don't try this shit out here in rural America. Most of us haul around some serious tools, or have easy access to them. It would cost the city government too much to have to keep replacing such things.

There is no way to park legally downtown unless you're extremely lucky, rich or going to one of the few places that have a parking lot like the Navy Pier.
Good luck!
