1. OK. Anyone else get this?

Talk about bringing back memories. I played with the original boxed set, before any of the expansions or books. What's next? A Warhammer 40k thread?

2. My command Mech was actually a Dualist.
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 07:40 AM by DarkPhenyx
Twin AC-10's with sub mounted LRL's. It kept me from fighting and concentrated on how the battle developed until I had no choice but to charge in. I loved that old wreck. *fond happy smile*

Did you ever play the shareware version for the Commadore system that played just like the tabletop version?

3. I was always partial to Marauders myself.
Interesting how so many of those early mechs looked exactly like the various Robotech/Macross mecha.

And I do remember that Commodore game. Definitely one of the cooler games to come out on that system.

4. Marauders always overheated in the middle of a big battle though.
And if you've ever ahd one loose it's magnetic jar in the middle of battle, taking half your company out with is, you learn to hate them. I was driving a scout mech at the time and fortunately jsut ended up getting shut down instead of blown up. Unfortunately it cost me four years in a Steiner prison camp.

5. You gotta use tactics even with a Marauder
Yeah, open up with a constant barrage of triple PPC and you are gonna cook. But... Oh my. Figure out how to time it and juggle your shots and there are few mechs that can stand up against one of these.

8. We used to own a pool tagble when I was a kid.
There were more games of Mech Warrior, D&D, et. al. played on that table then there were games of pool. The bumpers were perfect for bouncing your dice off of. I prefered a two bumper roll where as my brother liked banking it off the far bumper and having it roll back at him.

Goddess! It's great to be a geek! :)

10. Hey - we played that way as well!
Friend of mine had a nice, large pool table with a crapped out felt, so we were free to roll dice and stuff on it. He also had two sheets of plywood that we could put over the pool table for when we had huge-ass maps.

We were just talking about that table the other day (it's in his parent's house, so that was many years ago we used it) and saying how nice it was having the bumpers to keep everything on the table.

7. A shame that FASA went under

Although I have to admit: Since Fanpro took over Classic BattleTech, FanPro the prices over here have dropped to an acceptable level.
