5. Except the Clash isn't punk...
Great rock'n'roll band, with a strong political message, but they're not punk.

You should know that, with your avatar and user name..;)

8. Depends...
First 2 albums definitely were..

From my aging recollection the term "punk" had a broader meaning in 1979 than it does now. Punk then was more an attitude than a specific musical style. Something was punk if it was "not disco" and "not Fleetwood Mac".

OK, I should have said "the White Album of the Punk Generation". THAT would have been more accurate.

9. OK..I'll agree with that
The Clash's first two albums were more punk in terms of musical style. And I definitely agree about the attitude thing.

I mean "A hairstyle's not a lifestyle, imagine Sid Vicious at 35" :)

But since I didn't grow up with the clash (punk didn't enter my life until DK's Plastic Surgery Disaters), I'll always view them as being rock'n'roll with a strong political message..:)

strictly nitpicking...;)
