UPS just brought my DSL modem |
|
So after 5:00 this afternoon it's supposed to be activated, it says I can use the usb cable instead of installing an ethernet card, so that's what I'm going to do. I got tired of wasting so much time waiting for downloads, I'm going to cross my fingers and hope I don't rove this up.

1. You are obviously confused, sir |

You meant "Cheney it up"
"Rove" is a synonym for Sh*t, related to the fact that Rove's role in the Bush world is "Turd Blossom".

Wow...I'm a former LAN guy and a present telecom dude. Let me know how it goes.
You will have to program the username/password you were given by your provider into the modem, and you may want to get it all hooked up now and see if the modem syncs up to the "DSLAM." Your access to the internet may be denied until the awaited hour, but the modem should synch up with the hardware in the Central Office. If it doesn't, I'd call tech support. Be prepared to wait on hold for awhile; it's a bursty kind of thing...you may get right through, you may not
I've been running DSL at home for almost five years now without a problem, except for some initial techincal issues with modem set-up, which tech support guided me through very easily. Welcome to broadband!!!
