Well, we bought a second bookstore today |
|
After much thought and soul-searching, Paddy and I decided that we would try and buy our late friends, the Wood's, bookstore. We negotiated a price with the executor and applied for a loan, which was approved today. We take posession on July 19th.
Wish us luck! :)

11. We've been amazed at how well we've done with the one we have now. |
|
Paddy just has a 'sense' of what people like, and he knows his customers. He's a 'natural', I guess. :)

Of all the things I ever imagined I would do in my life, owning one bookstore wasn't ever among them, much less owning two. Life is odd, eh?

I always thought having a book/music/role-playing-game store would be a hell of a great way to spend a life.
Will you sell Coulter and Hannity and etc.?

I'm in envy of you guys!
Question: Will there be a cat roaming arond the store? No independant bookstore is complete without a cat giving the patrons disapproving looks.

6. Yes, the store comes complete with a cat! |
|
That was part of the deal, and his name is Merlin; he's quite a nice kitty, and looks good stretched out in the window. :)

Although I am neither religious or spiritual, I am intellectually interested in the tarot (I collect decks, in fact). I have always thought that it would be neat to do a book-themed one; the Bookstore would stand for the World in that deck :-)

I'm a certified readaholic - if I ever worked at a book store I would be fired for hiding and reading somewhere.

The building has 6 apartments above it, and a pool room (leased to and part of a bar next door). That part will be interesting.:)

(in a friendly-but-firm way of course). Much success to you. I love to hear about young people making their own way in the world. It's lots of work, but worth every minute. Again, I'm just so proud of you.

The executor already told them that the new landlord was a cop, so I suspect that'll help keep things down to a dull roar.
