Does My Cat Have Free Will? |

Does My Cat Have Free Will?
Or are all of his reactions, predetermined by the laws of phyiscs?
Would it be sad, if he doesn't have free will?

1. Free will, unquestionably. |

Having lived with five cats for eleven years, I know they not only have free will, and distinct personalities, but a lot of wisdom, as well.

6. Do you really own a cat? |

;-) Cats unquestionably have free will. Humans exist to serve them. The only thing that counts is what the cat wants. Cats have free will--everything else is subservient.
They call it "catitude" for a reason.

We used to think my youngest cat, while the cutest cat I've ever seen, was not too bright. It finally occurred to me that he has sucked up to my husband so much that he is the only cat my husband tolerates. THAT ain't stupid.

Both of my cats (or should I say my masters) will do anything they want, sometimes stubbornly so.
While we do tend to anthropomorphize our pets, just based on my experience there is some intelligence and free will present in cats. A couple was visiting my ex and I a number of years ago, our friend Bill wasn't feeling well and was going to stay at the house while we went to the local tourist trap. We asked Sebastian to watch him while we were gone - she (yes, she!) didn't leave his side, even to get food or use her litter box all day. This was definitely her will over her natural needs to eat and use the box.

you may want to explore the possibility that you no longer have free will.
Do you have free will, or are all of your reactions determined by your kitty?
Cats are often free to come and go and do as they please or get to hang out and explore the mysteries of the universe while we feed them, provide them with shelter and medical care, and pet them when they desire it.
How smart is that?
They are also agile killing machines equipped by nature to survive on their own in most circumstances.

Invited two cats into my house.
I am at their beck and call. If I don't do it they piss on the clean laundry.

Hell, our free will is subordinate to our two little tyrants.
