DU Direct TV satellite owners....help. |
|
I'm getting ready to move, and I am weighing the difference between cable (I currently subdcribe to Cox digital cable and high-speed internet) and satellite, primarily because of NFL Sunday ticket.
Can I get high speed internet with Direct TV? Is satellite better, worse, or a push? What about HD--I have a regular TV, but plan to buy an HDTV sometime soon after I move and install tv service. Will I have to pay extra to get HD reception or is it an automatic kinda deal? Thanks in advance for the help.

1. DirecTV Has Something Called DirectWAY |
|
A single dish that provides TV channels and internet access.
I don't know about HDTV, but DirecTV looks pretty good on my 36-inch Trinitron.

2. I have Direct TV and it's much better than cable |
|
However, for satellite internet the upload speeds are slow and you need another dish. I think HDTV cost more....I don't know for sure. I don't have HDTV.

4. I think it all depends |
|
on what is available from cable in your area. Also, things change over time, and change faster over time too. I am waiting to get HD because there isn't much broadcast in HD yet. Prices vary a lot too and that affects most people's choices. The bottom line is you have to do a lot of homework.

7. I Have DirecTV, But I'm Considering Switching to Dish Network |

I get DirecTV through a provider called Pegasus that has a monopoly on the service in my area. Apparently, Pegasus and DirecTV have had a falling-out, as I've been given the option to get my programming directly from DirecTV. So, I've been trying lately to get through to a DirecTV representative who is not based in India or wherever to see if they are willing to deal. I want a free TiVO, just like new subscribers get. If they aren't willing to deal, I'm walking...to Dish Network. I can get a free TiVO, and their basic package includes The Movie Channel and Encore.
On Edit: I also don't like the fact that Rupert Murdoch just bought DirecTV
