I decided my wife is a lousy cook
:puke:

She really screwed up the flounder last night. Turned into a soupy mess. When I refused to eat it, a big fight entailed.

A few months ago. She mixed left over meatloaf, powdered mashed potatoes and salsa. Made me :puke: No wonder I am losing weight.

:sigh:

1. Sounds like you are going to have to do the cooking
Don't worry, I cook for my girlfriend 90% of the time.

Please offer to do the cooking. We don't want good Kerry voters wasting away. :P

14. I believe in 50-50 as well, but only so long as one has skill in that task
:-)

Some things are better left 100-0.

5. Why not draw her back to some basics?
Cooking doesn't have to be elaborate or extravagant unless that is what you want. Perhaps she can do hamburgers or pasta or other things that are REALLY HARD to mess up.

Could be it is a recipe issue, too. My wife $ (pronounced Ka-ching) has serious recipe issues. Most of the time she does fine and things wind up being delicious, but when she misses the crucial ingredient or misses the amount, LOOK OUT! We fix this by cooking together when we are trying something we don't make often or the item is complex. We double-check as we are making the meal.

Don't suffer, be creative!

JM

9. Experiments resulting in
FBWGD (Food-Borne Weapons of Gastric Destruction) are quite common. The first time I made a matzoh ball, my brother took it to the front lawn and sent it across the street, intact, using a 2 wood. It took about 4 or 5 tries to get my ravioli right.

10. so, do the cooking instead......
Tell her that you'll take over the cooking and that she'll do the dishes as a part of cleaning up after the meal. Do a romantic dinner so she won't feel bad about not cooking anymore.

11. Or, what about even non-kitchen-related splits?
I've gotten great meals in exchange for mowing the lawn.

12. Send her to Stepford for...ahem....training.
Seriously though, even decent cooks mess up a dish here and there.

I am a pretty good cook, but I have made a meal or two once in a blue moon that I wouldn't think about eating.

13. She should start watching The Food Network
I cannot tell you the number of tips I have picked up from them. Plus, you can download recipes! "Food 911" is particularly good. Tyler Florence helps those in trouble. He did one show just on cooking fish. Check it out and good luck.:-)

18. The Food Network really does, for me, at least
I learn something everytime I turn it on, even if they're making something that I would never make in a million years! Check it out!:bounce:

16. Easy enough to do if one is using the wrong pan or covering things
that should not be covered. Fish is easy to overcook, undercook or screw up....especially if it's something she hasn't prepared before...

I guess I don't have that 50/50 thing going on on that one...I love to cook (as long as I don't have to do dishes  #9 no dishes)

17. my wife cooks pretty well
But she's so freaked out about food poisoning that when she cooks meat, it resembles either shoe leather or charcoal, depending on the method. However, she does make kick-ass pasta sauces and salads.

It provides us a good opportunity to work as a team, let's say. ;)
