2. I've seen Iggy on three occasions
"The Idiot" tour w/ Bowie on keys was great, the show following "New Values" with Clem Burke of Blondie on drums, Tim Severin of the Banshees on bass, and Carlos Alomar on guitar was one of the most smokin' concerts I've ever heard (in a small club, with me in the mosh pit no less! Heh!).

You will NOT be disappointed. I am sure that even at whatever age he is, Iggy can still put it out there. He's gonna be your dog.

3. I've seen Iggy Twice...
Two of the greatest rock & roll shows EVER...I'm just thrilled to be able to see him with the Asheton Brothers playing Stooges songs...there's an amazing DVD that came out last month of the Stooges live in Detroit from last year that my neighbors hate (due to my house shaking whenever I play it).

6. Iggy is the kitty's titties
He is a farking genius. Man, I hope I can rock that hard at his age. Hell, I wish I could rock that hard now.

Is "Some Weird Sin" like the best song ever, or what?

9. Saw him on HBO's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame special backed by...
...Soul Asylum. He sang "Back Door Man" and after the second verse Soul Asylum did a smooth but completely unexpected shifting of gears and they went straight into "I Wanna Be Your Dog."

Effing AWESOME.

5. The New York Dolls..
What's left of them, should be cool to see. It looks like it will be worth the trip.

7. My SO is going to be even more pissed at David Johansen...

for participating in this further Dolls "reunion". She was already ticked off that he would agree to the "one off" for Morrisey's festival ("Hey, why don't YOU reform The Smiths?")
Why sully a great thing with this sad and shoddy trip down memory lane?

8. That's an interesting bill.

It'll probably be a good show.

Edited to add: I just read the article; sounds like a lot of bands got resurrected. The Electric Prunes? Where did they dig them up from? The Chesterfield Kings? I saw them in a club years ago and they were great. And the tickets are only $20-25! I'd almost think of traveling for it myself.

10. I want DETAILS after it's all said and done
Little Steven's show is airing now on KMTT here; my late husband's band is going to be played on it at some point. Little Steven is amazing - he puts together his show while on the road, from his hotel rooms on his laptop. He's been a huge supporter of some of my favorite, underrated bands.

Enjoy the show! I'm also very curious about what The Pretty Things sound like now. :hi:

13. I saw The Pretty Things in the nineties.
I actually interviewed them and did a story for a local music magazine. They played in a club in Cambridge. They were pretty good; I enjoyed the show. (And I got an unexpected perk when I was doing the story: the band's publicist sent me their entire catalog on CDs!

14. They seem to be really nice guys
Mike Stax from Ugly Things mag in San Diego is a huge fan of theirs (hence the name of his 'zine). It's great that you got their whole catalog!

I have a video of some of their stuff from their heyday in the '60s - they even had these great proto-music videos that are really funny and cool, esp. for "Midnight to Six" and "L.S.D." which are classics. One of the great, most underrated British invasion bands. I don't know why they never caught on over here like they should have. And "SF Sorrow" is a classic album too, from their post-R & B stuff.:hi:

pre-dated "Tommy." When I saw them, they did several songs from that album. They did stuff from throughout their career. They actually had a new album out at the time--1999--and it had the great title "Rage Before Beauty." :hi:

Well, I'm glad you do!! :D I'm glad they're still playing, and especially that they're playing songs off that amazing record.
