Damb! Mrs Q just called! It's steamers and stuffies for dinner tonight! |
|
We're having a time at her auntie's house, and the sun-ripened clams will be a-squirtin' in the trees! Woo-hoo! Pass me the Tabasco and a cup of broth, I am THERE!
Plus, for dessert... linguini with white clam sauce! It's almost too much to stand (the operative word here being "almost").

So I know what I'm talking about here.
You take a clam. Specifically, a quahog, the giant sized clam found in abundance in RI's Narragansett Bay. You rip the guts out of him, chop them up and mix them with bread crumbs, butter, herbs, salt, pepper, a little bit of celery and a little bit of bacon. Put the mix back in the shell and bake. They are "stuffies" because their proper name is "stuffed quahogs."
A shot of Tabasco on top and, well, heaven approaches.
