Which is better for you?
Are there any health benefits to either?
Am I too self-conscious because I keep a towel wrap on because I dont want my sack dangling in public view like everyone else's in the room? What's the proper etiquette?

Helps to clear the lungs and sinuses for me. And I sweat a LOT more, and I think that's good. Also good for the skin.

12. Steam is growing on me |

it takes longer to build up stamina in a steam room though because the heat is so much harder to take.
The steam does clear out your sinuses.

16. Steam is my preference |
|
It's absolutely heaven. 10-15 minutes of steam and I don't care what else happened during the day. If you have sinus problems it helps with that too. I got used to steam rooms in Europe, so nude is preferable for me. It's not a big deal at all, plus it's a great social equalizer.
Sauna just makes me feel like I'm outside on a hot day. :P
I'd build a steam room in my house if I could afford it.

As others said, clears out the sinuses, makes me sweat more, it's moist and doesn't just feel like i'm out by the pool getting friend by the Cheneying sun.
AND - after 15-20 minutes in a steam room, the beard is softened up real nice for shaving, especailly if your spa has a shaving sink right in the steam room.

We can only hope.
Now if we can just get "Bush" to be equated "Evil, Millenialist whacko Christian swaggering fascist tin-plated-dictator shit-for-brains idiot with delusions of competence" I'll be really happy!
