1. Very good
veils of velvet-distortion-noise, good meolodies, very moody.

Interviewed them once or twice in their heyday, early 90's.

2. Are they still around?
Wow, I haven't listened to them since 1991 or so. They were good, but all of their songs sounded the same to me. For better shoegazer, get some Ride, Lush, or my personal all-time fav, Swallow.

6. This Swallow was on the 4 A.D. label. They had an album titled "Blow"
That may help.

3. they RULE!!
I love Raise. It's such an awesome album. My cassette copy bit the dust several years ago. I need to get a new one, but even used ones are quite pricey.

I saw them live in Austin at the Backroom in 92, and they were awesome.

I was glad I didn't have arrhythmia at the time because I was close to the stage, and their amps were LOUD. I have it now. I still wonder if that show was the cause!
