4. You mean, after you ran HijackThis? |
|
And how do you know they're backup files?

I think it probably asked you where to save the files, and you picked Desktop. Either way, just to be sure, instead of deleting them make a new folder on your drive and move them there, since you definitely don't want them on your desktop.
Did HijackThis help?

3. TrendMicro will clean it out. |

You've been hijacked or worse.
Go to www.trendmicro.com and get a free online scan.

7. Try upgrading your Spybot and Ad-Aware also |
|
Not checking for updates, but going to the websites and downloading newer versions. I did so and found more than a hundred things--with each--that were hiding in my PC.

9. You Might Consider A Different Browser |
|
Most of the stuff out there seems to have an affinity for IE.
Mozilla's Firefox is smaller, faster, customizable out the whazoo, has a matching mail program (Thunderbird) that compares to Outlook and I've never had a pop-up ad on Firefox yet.
Even Will Pitt switched today.
