Last 5 CDs/albums you've listened to
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 03:32 PM by mvd
the whole way through, I mean.

Mine:

Pink - Try This (an A- instead of A because Pink's voice is more suited for R&B or pop than punk/pop and punk/ska)

R.E.M. - Out Of Time (love it!)

These from the full album listening party:

Wilco - A Ghost Is Born (takes getting used to, but quite rewarding.)

Cure - self-titled (hated it! Lots of off-tune shouting and little direction.)

Brandy - Afrodisiac (the first album of hers that I actually liked. JoJo's is also quite good for her young age, but Brandy's album is better. Afrodisiac is a lot better than Christina Milian's new album.)

Also heard Bad Religion's "Angeles Is Burning" and loved it - might want to get Empire Strikes First.

9. Can't remember the last five.
JC Chasez's Schizophrenic: Awesome. He has an amzing voice and you can definetly see some major influnces like Sting, and Prince in some of his songs.

LOTR Return of The King Soundtrack: Amazing! Into the West performed by Annie Lenox is one of the saddest songs I've ever listened to.

Quen's greatest Hit's Album: You can't go wrong with Queen. Bohemian Rhapsody is an amazing song! Also sad. :(

I absolutely hated them when I first heard them years ago, and didn't understand why they had such a following. But they tend to grow on you.

Check out "Lonesome Crowded West." That's my favorite album by far.

Pretenders - Pretenders
Pretenders - Viva El Amor
Prince - 1999
Prince - Musicology
Prince - Sign O' The Times (on now)

Love Pretenders, and Viva El Amor has that kick-ass "Legalise Me" featuring the Jeff Beck solo!

I'm just starting to get into Prince; Musicology was the first thing I bought. It was pretty good, so I've bought Sign, 1999 and Purple Rain. They're all still new enough to me I don't have them ranked as far as favorites. It's all listenable.

56. Big Five.
DREAM THEATER - Images and Words
DREAM THEATER - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Two amazing records for anyone who calls themselves fans of progressive rock/metal. The guitar and the drums absolutely throw you into a trance, also, one finds himself saying "how the fuck did they do that?" constantly

MASTODON - Remission

One fantastic record full of melodic metal mayhem (more alliteration please?) and driving rhythms.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE - The End of Heartbreak

Might actually be one of the best hardcore/metal records ever released, if they cut off the last 3 tracks. Vocals, guitar, and drums are catchy and complicated.

DARKEST HOUR - Hidden Hands of the Sadist Nation

Powerful lyrics mixed with awe inspiring drums and guitar. From the song "The Sadist Nation:"

"One nation under the gun
where forward thinking is shunned
a morbid tradtion,
archaic value system
where violence justified
is just another pride
one nation under the gun"

Leviathan (it's all based on Moby Dick!)...I heard the song from it called "I Am Ahab" and it was pretty damn cool.

Could thier drummer be any better?!?! He's a damn maniac!

I saw them open for High on Fire last year and they blew HoF out of the water (and I was there to see HoF).Friggin incredible music. They're playing here in Ma on July 29th with Suffocation.I'm there!

92. I heard another one of their songs
it's called "Iron Tusk" it's supposed to be amazing, according to a friend of mine who saw them in Ohio, he also said they are the loudest band he's ever seen. I hope they stop in PGH for once, nobody ever comes here any more, not that I can blame them, there's nowhere to play.

81. IABD!!!!!
Awesome band. Saw the second version of them at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin on an incredible double bill with Joy of Cooking.

Actually met David La Flame in Florida in the early 90's. Still bitter about the manager ripping off the name and the rights to the music, as is understandable.

OK, here goes:

Phish -- Lawnboy
Duran Duran -- Rio
The Shins -- Chutes Too Narrow
Massive Attack -- Mezzanine
Jethro Tull -- Thick as a Brick

I might have listened to a Stravinsky CD, BEFORE I listened to the JT, but I'd have to go look up which orchestra, etc. It's my sig other's classical music, and I don't pay attention to who plays it and what it's called. Sue me...
