Best place to download music (legally) |
|
I am not into the Kazaa stuff. I just would like to know of a place to download tunes in mp3 format to place on an mp3 player. I'd like to use it while jogging.
My wife and I are into metal/industrial/techno. Off to go jog a few miles without music thus the need for the post. I have found a few places but I am not sure about them. I certainly do not want a place whose software places a bunch of sypware crap on my comp. I can get it off no problem, but I would like a place with easy to use efficient software at a resonable monthly rate. Thanks in advance.

2. The reinvented Napster is pretty good. |
|
My wife bought a Napster card and opened an account there. Selection ain't what it used to be (of course) but better than nothing.

3. The once estimable emusic is no longer an option |

I have lately taken to looking through mp3 blogs, but that is time-consuming if you are trying to come up with an hour+ of material. There are many artist and company websites that post very good stuff if you are adventurous (which I am not all of the time).

Pros: it's cheap (as little as 22 cents oer track) , there's no DRM -- it's a pure MP3 without any crap, and the selection is ecletic.
Cons: It requires a monthy subscription, and it doesn't have much new or exteremly popular stuff (but then, I think the new stuff is crap anyway).

Software is free and quite good. Makes your music easy to organize. http://www.apple.com/itunes/

7. MP3.com used to be great |
|
Lesser known groups trying to get their music out there. Lots of excellent bands out there. Haven't checked it in a while though.

It's a pay-per site now, with no free content at all; I use to love getting the underground techno bands off there

I went through there. It looks good for newer, lesser known bands. For better known groups it looks like iTunes or Napster.
