33. Here it is:

Nutmeg Feather Cake

1/4 c butter
1/4 c shortening
1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 t vanilla
3 beaten eggs
2 c sifted flour
2 t nutmeg
1 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
1 c buttermilk

1) Cream butter and shortening thoroughly
2) Gradually add sugar and cream together until light and fluffy
3) Add vanilla
4) Add eggs and beat well
5)Sift flour, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together 3 times
6) Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk a little at a time, beating after each addition until smooth.
7) Bake in 2 9x1 1/2" round pans at 350 for 25 minutes


7 Minute Frosting

1)Place in top of double boiler and beat until thoroughly blended:
2 unbeaten egg whites
1 1/2 c sugar
5 T cold water
1 1/2 t light corn syrup
2)Place over rapidly boiling water, beating constantly with rotary beater or wire whisk for 7 minutes
3) remove icing from heat
4) Add 1 t vanilla and continue to beat until icing is right consistency to spread

It has something to do with childhood birthdays and that is the way that my mother ordered her cakes.

My favorite cake is guava cake from the Hawaiian Dee-lite bakery in Honolulu. Uwajimaya (an Asian supermarket here) carries it. It's sooooo good, and because I'm a girly-girl, I especially like that it's pink.:D
