Who Are The Most Evil Women In History?
Edited on Tue Jul-06-04 11:11 PM by khephra
Excluding Barbara Bush, Ann Coulter, Lynne Cheney, & Nancy Reagan.

I'll have to go with Erzsebet Bathory.

The peasants who ended up taking over did.

And Marie ended up there too, if you recall.

She was just naive and stupid, and had no idea how people were starving while she lived in obscene wealth.

There's a difference between naivete and downright evil. Ann Coulter is downright evil.

28. Lucrezia Borgia was a victim of the medieval whore media
According to Ferdinand Gregorovius, Lucrezia Borgia was "the unluckiest woman in history" and many factors certainly support the idea that a lot of tragedy befell her life, even more unlucky in the fact that it was so often at the hands of her family. Despite claims of a close relationship with her father Rodrigo, who became Pope Alexander IV, and her brothers Juan and Cesare, Lucrezia was little more than a pawn in the power game of Italy during this period; a commodity which her father, and later her brother Cesare, used to strengthen Borgia alliances with other powerful families and states.

<snip>

Gregorovius' description of Lucrezia as "the unluckiest woman in history" is very valid because of all that Lucrezia suffered in terms of personal loss. Against the single-minded power quest of the Borgia men Lucrezia was no opposition, nor did she attempt to be. She submitted to their orders without question and was successfully used to secure many temporarily necessary alliances with other great powers in Italy and the surrounding countries. Her life was an unhappy one, due largely to the fact that her personal contentment was put aside in place of Borgia politics, and the greatest unluckiness lay in the fact that those responsible for her misery were most often her own family.

16. Vampire fans know her well
Edited on Tue Jul-06-04 11:26 PM by khephra
Erzebet Bathori is a Hungarian Countess who thought that bathing in the blood of young virgins would stop the aging process! It is said that she murdered around 650 people but it is more likely that it was around 50 (Says Ingrid Pitt - author of the bedside companion for vampire lovers - based on the fact that their can't of been many virgins living in one remote village at the time!)

She was born in Bratislava (in the Slovak republic at the time) in 1560 and was abused a lot as a child which could be to blame for her bloody appetite!!! she was well educated and spent most of her life in a castle. she married Count Nadasdy in 1574 but was very bored, she also spent a lot of time devising tortures for her lazy staff like standing out in the courtyard of one of her castles when it was below zero or sitting them on the fire.

It was Bathoris midwife 'Ana Darvulia' who gave her the idea of bathing in the blood of virgins! She knew what the Countess wanted.

One of the worse things the Countess did for entertainment was to use something Darvulia devised which was an iron maiden with the spikes on the inside but with room in the middle to hang (they thought spikes killed with too little pain!), the cage was then hung in the air above Countess Bathoris chair (with the victim inside) and her staff would put burning torches under the victim - to escape the burning flames the victim would dodge them, and by doing so would slash herself on the spikes causing blood to fall down onto Bathoris body

She was sentenced to life imprisonment when she was found out and in around 1611, and tried for killing 650 woman and children, her accomplices were all executed and burned alive, She lived for a further 3 years either in a bricked up wall fed through a small hole, or in luxury in one of her castles!! (Could be one or the other!)

Killed her two sons very close to where I live, and claimed it was an intruder. She and her husband were living a little too high on the hog, and evidently needed teh insurance money.

Note to Darlie: When you cut the screen to make it look like someone's been inside the house, cut it from the outside, or the metal filings land on the wrong side of the window.

My husband would agree with me 110%. She's currently suing her siblings for sole control of their late mother's estate. Never mind that these siblings took her in and cared for her for years. If she can't get total control, she's pushing to have the estate sold off to strangers, which would leave the siblings homeless.

62. Catherine De Medici?
Called the "Black Queen", "the Maggot from Italy's Tomb", and also "the very incarnation of evil". She married Henry II of France and took power when the King died in a jousting accident. She presided over the St. Bartholomew Massacre in which hundreds of Protestants were murdered.

The Chinese government has branded Tzu Hsi, the last Dowager Empress of the Ch'ing Dynasty as the very essence of evil, for her machiavellian tactics in seizing power on the throne of China, rising from the ranks of concubines (although there have been some historical accounts justifying her behavior under the circumstances).
