HhhaaaWHOOPS! Tech's Marcus Vick busted again-suspended from team
QB charged with reckless driving,
possession of marijuana

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5378916/

RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was suspended indefinitely from the team Tuesday, the same day it was revealed he was charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana.

The younger brother of Atlanta Falcons quarterback and former Hokies star Michael Vick was charged after an early morning traffic stop on Saturday, state police said. He was convicted in May of three misdemeanors stemming from a drinking party with three underage girls.

was stopped by a state trooper early Saturday morning on an interstate about 25 miles east of Richmond.

Vick was clocked on radar at 86 mph, 21 mph above the speed limit, state police spokesman Gary B. Payne said.

1. Note to Marcus: You are not above the law.
Having a famous brother and athletic talent don't excuse you from being a moran. Now, knock it off, or Sportcenter will be running pieces on Michael visiting your ass in prison.

2. With his talent
And VT's football "reputation," he'll start the opening game against USC on Aug 28.

6. 3 games-and about Tech's reputation
After the trial, Virginia Tech athletic director Jim Weaver promised to punish the players, but refused to disclose what kind of disciplinary action he would take, citing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.

On Tuesday, Weaver revealed that all three players had been suspended for the first three games of this season. School spokesman Larry Hincker said all three players had signed a waiver that allowed the school to detail the penalties.

I knw that they have been getting in a lot of trouble out there in Blacksburg but truth be told none of it happened until they started winning. I know I know they are innocent parties in this but don't think that they aren't easy marks for any a-hole who spouts his mouth off or anyone who can get close to them. Same thing happened in Lincoln Neb. when they started losing and in Dallas when the Cowboys started losing.

9. He got three games for the LAST offense?
He should be kicked off the team for this one.

11. The way I am reading it is that the 3 games are just applied now
but I could be wrong.

5. hmmm, let's see
starting quarterback, worth 5 mill a year in donations

arrest record, speeding and pot.

Naw, let him start. Who cares if there is an educational facility connected to the football team, anyway? I mean, really! Which of their grads ever gets selected in the first round?

7. Local NBC station went to seek the "wisdom" of the sports bar
One guy said almost exactly that-"Hey he can put a lot of people in the stands and the university can make a lot of money off him so they should do whatever they can to get him back on the field"

Purists have trouble with such statements while realists see that the money does drive the whole thing, I am somewhere in the middle. Oh and Lane Stadium is going to be filled even if I was under center.

8. And where is Maurice Clarett???
Some schools overreact and some don't react at all.

I work with a bunch of Hokies (grads, all) and they simply will never get any of this. They should more often look at the National Champions 2002 landscape photo from the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl that hangs on the wall in my office - it's something they will never see (much less 7 of them!).

Here in VA, the Hokies are revered (mistakenly, of course) and it simply doesn't matter what kind of miserable human beings play football for them - it's the winning that matters.

10. As a 'Hoos fan (and Buckeye fan) I know what you are talking about
I have to say I root for the Hokies if they are playing anyone other than UVa but yes the Hokies fans (LOOK at my car keys!!!) see them pretty much as gladiators-what happens outside of the stadium is of no concern to them.
