Do you hate Dell?
If you do, join http://www.ihatedell.net. Another DUer mentioned the site to me yesterday, and I can't be the only one with a hatred of Dell.

2. Yes, and I've never even owned one
I've always hated them for their outrageous overcharging and their totally false claims of "our computers are easier to use". Bullshit. It's all Windows - doesn't matter who makes the machines. Idiots.

And from listening to people who actually bought the damn things, I've learned to hate Dell for their apparently VERY shitty customer "service".

3. customer service: my daughter paid for online help. When her
few months old computer crashed, the service person told her to just keep doing what she was doing, because she knew more than he did, and he didn't know anything he was just hired and hadn't really learned anything at all yet. She paid extra money for this service!

5. I love Dell...
I know Michael Dell is a huge GOP donor, but in my country it is one of the few ways to get a good computer, unless you build it yourself. Usually generic computers are made in small computer stores that offer VERY crappy warranty (for example, you may find your case sealed... and if you break the seals to check what is actually inside, the warranty is void).

My home computer and the 2 before were Dell. And odds are, my next one will be too.

7. How well do Macs perform?
My next computer will most likely be a mac, since I am sick of Windows.

10. I love mine
and have no complaints, it's alot of neat features and it's really easy to use. I have an imac with a 17 inch flat screen, the whole thing looks kind of like a desk lamp, it also takes up hardly any space.

8. No.
I've had better experience with Dell than with my previous computers; If I count my sons' computers along with mine, we currently have 3 Dells; 2 of them are 18 months old, no problems, one is 5 years old, no problems. During those 5 years, I've needed to call customer service 3 or 4 times about installing hardware and software; no problems there, either.

The previous computers all convinced me to never deal with them again; AST (my first computer!), IBM, and HP. If I knew how to build my own, I'd do that. Since I don't, my Dells have been easy and reliable.

We have a lot of donated computers of all sorts at work, as well. The Dells, according to our onsite tech, have required less refurbishing and less maintenance to keep them running.

Generally, my computer problems are all software related; all Microsoft problems.

9. In 1993 when my daughter was born I bought 200 shares of Dell
in her name and put it away. I sold it before I should have but still made enough to ensure that her college education will be paid for no matter where she chooses to go to school.

I know there service sucks and that Michael Dell is a big GOP supporter but because of this I can't bring myself to hate them.

12. First thing I saw was gay bashing. Sorry, not for me!
"Personally, I could care less if two grown men want to get behind closed doors and get each other up the bung hole all night. But I don't want Gayness flaunted in front of my face at work. Keep that stuff in your private lives. I certainly do not care and I doubt others do as well. I think it's a shame that they are subjecting us to Gay Pride and Gay Awareness. The workplace ought to be an environment free of stuff like that. I don't see Hetrosexual Awareness Week on the calendar for the near future. And it shouldn't be either. Whether or not someone is gay has no bearing on their outcome to function in their jobs at Dell. I'd just as soon not hear about it. We come to work to work. Not to talk about if we are gay or straight."

15. Besides making crappy computers, Michael Dell is a big Bushie.
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 08:28 PM by NNadir
He's one of the "pioneers" who foisted the useless piece of shit lame Governor of Texas into our country's White House.

It would be one thing if his computers weren't shit; but they are shit. They're like all things Bush, promises not delivered.

My Toshiba's great and I don't have to wait hours on the phone to get useless service from people who don't speak English.

16. Proprietary hardware
poor support and blantantly misleading adds. They stuff a P4 in their boxes and handicap with cheap hardware to keep the costs down. It makes the computer completely unusuable. They only have one line of desktop that is worth anything but I still wouldn't get it because of the proprietary hardware. I want the freedom to put whatever I want inside the box.

They started out a good company in the early 90's but just got too big for its own good. And they don't use AMD processors!

17. I. F------g. Hate. Dell. Customer. "Service"..........(profanity warning.)

Holy shit.

I made the fatal mistake of losing my boot disk and resource CD. Big mistake.

I was on the phone for about 4 hours trying to get a new resource CD. They would transfer me back and forth...OVER AND OVER. I was transferred about 10 times...Im not exaggerating. And every one came with a huge wait.

Eventually I had to go Michael Douglas on their ass and went totally ballistic on the 15th Indian person I spoke with that could barely speak english. Finally they got it for me.

3 hours the first day for the boot CD, 4 hours a week later for the resource CD with all of the drivers.

DELL can lick my sack.

18. 3 weeks
A couple years ago I bought a laptop from them - they said delivery time: "3 weeks".

3 weeks later, no laptop. I called Dell cs and they said it'll be delivered in 3 weeks.

Another 3 weeks go by, called again.

"3 weeks".

Fuck that!. I called Gateway. 3 DAYS!

I got my Gateway, called Dell back to cancel. "Oh, we shipped it. You should get it tomorrow."

Too bad, too late. I returned it and got a refund.
