Business or pleasure? I love Thailand. I used to divert into some of the northern Thai air bases (NKP, Ubon, Udorn) for the slightest of reasons when flying missions in Laos. We would fly over to Phuket Island and shoot landings on training missions.

I returned to Phuket in 1994. My wife and I did the Singapore Air Show for a week, took the Orient Express overnight train to Kuala Lumpur, and - after a few days there - flew on to Phuket Island. We then went to Bangkok for a week or so.
