The log house looks new, now. However the corn-cob blasting material is all over the interior. We sure found out where chinking, caulking, and insulating has to be done. This crew will do all that before they begin painting on the wood-guard product. At least the really messy part is coming to an end.

4. It's a Cheney-free way of cleaning the exterior of a log house
The corn-blast media is actually a fine grit made from corn cobs. It is not as hard or erosive as sand. My crew salvages about 40% of the corn-blast product from tarps on the ground, sifts it through screens, and re-uses it.
They haven't Cheneyed-up yet!

Good to hear your crew aren't total Cheny-ups.

5. I'm wondering if I should..
chink the siding on my house. We've got reclaimed cedar from an old horse fence. The builder (the original owner) left gaps between the boards to keep moisture out and let the wood expand safely. Someone told me it would be fine to leave it alone, but we get mud daubers and other bugs behind the boards, not to mention geckos.

What part of Texas are you in? I'm in Denton. I don't know many others around here with all wood exteriors (minus the roof). I'd like my next house to be log.

7. I un-assed Texas on 4/29.
I have a mountain house in western North Carolina and a condo in downtown Greenville, South Carolina.

Sounds like a great siding to me. Caulking might be better than chinking, but what do I know? Do woodpeckers work on your siding? That is the red-flag.

I love my log house. It is very energy efficient and striking in appearance (post-and-beam with the exposed timber all over the interior).

8. Hehe..
yeah, I was thinking it would be pretty unusual for someone to have a log house in TX. Actually, now that I think about it, I do know someone in East Texas with a log house. I definitely love the look.

I don't have any woodpeckers, just insects and reptiles. I'll look into caulking.
