Need a movie title>>>>
I saw a film in the early '90's when it was a new release.
It was about small US and German units in a farmhouse during Christmas 1944 Battle of the Bulge. It was quite anti-war, and VERY well made. I think that the title had 'Silent' in it, as in "Silent Night" but none of my movie review books has that title. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

1. A Midnight Clear
You're probably thinking of A Midnight Clear, with Kevin Dillon. I don't remember much about it, but it seemed like a good movie. (And it was named after a Christmas Carol ;) )

2. Silent Night in the trenches-the real stories
The Germans were making a last desperate attempt to stave off the end. The real story occurred in 1915, 3 years before we entered the war. The soldiers involved had to be reassigned by the brass on both sides so that the war could continue. The men were perfectly content to remain in peace the peace of Christ.

My name is Francis Tolliver, I come from Liverpool.
Two years ago the war was waiting for me after school.
To Belgium and to Flanders, to Germany to here
I fought for King and country I love dear.
'Twas Christmas in the trenches, where the frost so bitter hung,
The frozen fields of France were still, no Christmas song was sung
Our families back in England were toasting us that day
Their brave and glorious lads so far away.

I was lying with my messmate on the cold and rocky ground
When across the lines of battle came a most peculiar sound
Says I, "Now listen up, me boys!" each soldier strained to hear
As one young German voice sang out so clear.
"He's singing bloody well, you know!" my partner says to me
Soon, one by one, each German voice joined in harmony
The cannons rested silent, the gas clouds rolled no more
As Christmas brought us respite from the war
