Vet Treats Stoned Cats & Dogs - (Owners Feeding Pets Pot)
<snip>

A VICTORIAN vet is treating more than a dozen stoned cats and dogs a year because negligent owners are feeding their pets cannabis cookies and cake.

Dr Neil Howard says confused pets have flooded his veterinary surgery in Torquay, Anglesea and Lorne, in Victoria's south-west.

He says the problem has been around for 10 years and isn't going away.

Dr Howard says many cases are an accident but some pet owners are deliberately feeding their dogs cannabis. He says the animals could be in danger by their dazed state of mind but the problem is too widespread to report to police or the RSPCA.

1. WHY?
I've got no problem with pot, but if someone tried to get my pets wasted they would be getting a HUGE buzzkill from me.

2. Oh, the problem has been around longer than that

In the mid '70s, in my freshman year of college, I lived across the dorm hall from the college champion drug abusers. They had a kitten (against the rules, of course), and one day they admitted that they had fed it a quarter tab of Dexedrine (prescription amphetamine) to see what would happen. "She just stared at the wall for a couple hours and shivered, but she was okay after that."

I figured someone should feed them to a mountain lion to see what would happen.
