Poll question: I've been offered a new job at the same place I work.....
shall I take it? it's no change in pay, it seems a hassle, they don't reward you for hard work, and they only want me because they know I'm a good worker and they have a history of dumping work on one or two persons in a section because the others can't/won't do the work properly

Cost of living is soaring...

4. ask for more money
but consider taking it. Versatility is good, and taking a different job can be good for you in the long term. Good luck!

7. Jump at it
Once you've done several jobs, you're qualified for supervisory work.

Sounds like there's lots of turnaround at your company. Here's a chance to develop an opportunity.

8. What are the pro's and con's? You only mention con's. Would it

benefit you in any way or just be a new thing to learn and adjust to with no financial or professional gain.

Any more likely to move up the ladder? If nothing is gained, why bother. If you refuse maybe they will sweeten the offer later.

Professional gains could also include gaining experience in a different area of your field that may help finding a new job.

10. NO GAIN............
it's the civic service, so you could be working your ass off whilst others get next to nothing to do. I've been over 10 years at this organization, and trust me, this boss covers for the most inept and destructive of persons. No promotion, no more money, no more prestige (part of the job may be delivering interoffice mail, whoopee)

I just don't want to go through the effort for this place because they don't care about people. Why put myself through the ringer for the 1000th time? It's just not worth my energy..... :)

11. There is always that pain in the ass period of time getting used to
a new position. If you don't want to do it, then politely decline and explain why.

The worst thing for office morale is the hard workers getting nothing for their efforts except for having to pick up more of the load for the shitty workers who assume someone else will do it.

This may be a good opportunity to explain that fact to your boss. They may already know and don't care but it doesn't hurt to make it perfectly clear how damaging that is to the office environment.

When I got out of law school and worked in a corporate environment I was shocked to see how incredibly lazy some people were and it didn't really matter. The good workers are asked to pick up the slack. It's a great way to get the people that care to no longer give a sh@#.

13. I'm at the point.....
where I just want to go in, do my work, say hello to the nice people I call friends, and then go home. I want to direct my energy elsewhere.....

12. Will it include duties you might like or help your skills?
Sometimes I wish that I could switch jobs at my company to do something different and develop different skills. Unfortunately all of the ones that I would be eligible for would be steps down. If I were at a larger company, I would switch jobs even without a raise.
If you prefer to do the same thing or the job would not really enable you to develop new skills or you would not enjoy the job, don't take the job.

14. I'm just very tired.....
I really need a change, but NOT at the place I'm at. Nothing there thrills me, and it's not like I'm getting more money or more benefits...... :(
